First Day of School

School has started and I am excited because Gab is SO thrilled about it! This is her second year at Barefoot. She loves it and tells me every day how much fun she has. She is always talking about the teachers, kids, and the fun things they do. This makes it easier for a mother to send off her young little first born for 2 and a half hours where I'm not huddled over her helping her do everything. It kinda makes me sad but I'm so excited for her to learn and grow. We talked about what to wear for 2 days. She was dead set on the "diamond" shoes for about a week in advance.

She cried when we had to leave gabby at school.

Grandpa Ken

Easter 2007

A picture for Grandpa

Gabby is a total "arts and crafts" nut! She asks to color or make a craft about a zillion times a day.
She loves to draw a picture and tell me every detail and what it all is.
This day she decided she was gonna make a 'valentime' for Gramps. She just loves my dad and always talks about him.

****************

She asked me one day as we left their house, "mom, why does my grandpa always kiss you on the lips?" I said because I'm his baby girl like you're mine. and she said, "oh, I think I'm gonna start to kiss him on the lips too". She is so not a lip kisser! She will kiss me or Stella on the lips and that is it. Rarely can Shaun get a kiss on the lips. So I thought that was pretty funny.
Another thing I want to remember her saying about him was last week when I was taking her to gymnastics in bloomington I told her I had to run to my moms really fast to get some allergy medicine then I'd be right back to watch her. She said, "is my grandpa gonna be home?" I don't know Gab, "well tell him I miss him but he doesn't have to worry about Gabby because I'm okay, I'm just at my gym class."

The day she colored the 'valentime' She said it was Grandpa riding his cow, chasing a pig at his ranch. I just love how many legs the cow has and that the pig has arms and hair.

Stella - 20 Months

...Lots of this...

1. Lots of tears and opinions have entered into your life... We are having a few meltdowns a week but nothing mom can't handle.
2. goes to the outside freezer for popcicles several times a day.
3. Loves eggs, yogurt, Quinoa, beans, corn, hotdogs, spaghettios, soy beans and juice
4. is starting to resist nap time on occasion but I don't let her win.
5. Misses Gabby when she is away for any period of time.
6. Had a case of COXSACKIE virus! It was awful!! Temp of 104 for 2 days and I could barely get it to lower. Ulcers in her mouth, would not eat much of anything for 4 days. Gogurts, popcicles, and dibs saved us.
7. Loves to play with Gabbys toys.
8. Loves her new puppy Max. Slaps her Knees and says here Max.
9. Is the best girl and growing up right before my eyes!
10. Is a climber! oh boy...

Stella needs to slow down! She is getting so big and it is breaking my heart. I used to get excited for new milestones. Now I don't. It means their childhood is in fast forward or something. It's going by too fast. I can't stand it!! Here Gabby is back in school and Stella is rounding the corner of 2 years old! Soon I'll be potty training her and getting her a big girl bed. I'm hoping it slows down a bit for my sake! I love this little girl. She is a joy.

Barefoot swimming lessons

Gabby has taken two sessions of swim lessons at Barefoot. I could not be happier with the outcome. She can pretty much swim but I don't encourage it because I can't take my eyes off Stella when I have them both at the pool. She has completed level 1 and 2 and is totally ready to take on level 3. Summer is winding down so I think we'll start back up next summer.
It was fun to watch her progress and get more comfortable in the water. She has gained a lot of confidence this summer and I really think the swimming helped for some reason.

...We love summer...

We have spent a good chunk of time outside in our fun backyard. The girls love it and so do I.
Stella could play outside alone all day if I'd let her. We've had plenty of popcicles, Capri Suns and watermelon.

Their favorite things this summer:
1. Sidewalk chalk
2. Bubbles
3. outdoor sink
4. jeep
5. bike, tricycle, plasma car
6. washing everything outside (like Cinderella)
7. and swimming at Grandmas and the BCC.

What a fun summer we have had!!!

4th of JULY

We had the best 4th of July this year. It was Gabbys first time seeing the city firework show. I have had her in bed by 7:30 or 8 every year and this year we decided to let her stay up and party. She loved it but was so worried about the "poor mountain". She thought for sure the fireworks were burning it and hurting it and starting big fires.
Her facial expressions say it all... And these were just the dinky packaged ones you do in your yard. She just loves a good firework display.
Stella on the other hand did not find it pleasing. She was worried and scared and wanted her Grandpa to hold her.
I love celebrating holidays with and through my children!

Stella -19 months

Stella Jane @ 19 Months

1. Starting to say more words. Gabby, Where's daddy, Oh no!, All done, All gone, Night night Gabby, Love you. This, That...
2. Has straight messy hair. All. the. time. She pulls out bows, elastics and headbands with in minutes and all the time in her car seat {in route to the destination I'd like her hair to look cute}.
3. Has big feet (size 7)
4. Has really funny/strange toes and toenails. I have only had to clip her first 3 toenails on both feet. Her pinkie toenails are TINY. her big toenails are not flat. So funny looking.
5. She loves her pink silky blankie
6. Doesn't eat good anymore.
7. Always sleeps through the night now.
8. is Tall and has long legs.
9. LOVES to be outside.
10. Says "play" as soon as she wakes up from her nap.
11. Is a champ going up and down our horrific stairs.
12. Loves Nursery and never cried one tear. She pretty much begged to go in a couple weeks early and they let her right in.
13. Does not care what I dress her in. (Gabby was SO opinionated at this age)

Stella you have been the best, easiest baby and you make me want another one right now. I having the best time watching you watch Gabby and try to repeat the things she does. You are so lovable and affectionate to everyone you know. You always ask everyone if they are okay by touching them and saying "oo okay?" You are as sweet as ever and Gabby just adores your every move.

Buzz Worthy

Every once in awhile I have to post on things I am totally digging.

1. Loreal Double extend Mascara. This stuff is by far my favorite mascara to date. I traded in my beloved Lancome and gave this a go. It comes off so easily when you wash your face. None of that black athletic-looking under-eye black out smudge stain... This comes off all wormy in little strands. Not sure if that is the best description but: it's awesome and comes off easy. Not to mention cheaper than "good mascaras"
2. Shellac Nail products. I am a little obsessed with nail polish and my fingers and toes being smudge free all the time. I hate chips and smudges and all that stuff that comes with polishing them... I was getting my nails done by a friend and have loved the axxium by OPI gel soak offs. But, I wanted it all to myself so I could do my nails any time. So I bought the new Shellac (kinda the same stuff) by CND. and I am absolutely loving it. You have to buy your own lamp and the stuff is a little pricey but it lasts for so long and remains flawless for the most part! What could be better! I can't wait for more colors to come out.

3. Quinoa (Keen-wa). My kids are gobbling this up lately. Stella is in the self-feeding/mess everywhere stage and this stuff is great for her to spoon up. I love it because it is a protein and a complex carbohydrate. It is great for very young kids up to adults. The whole fam can eat this super healthy stuff.
It's kind of like rice or more similar to the look of couscous. Delish!
4. Rockaholic. I've been on the search for a good dry shampoo for years now. I usually wash my hair every other day. I have just entered the 3 day grace zone!!! This stuff is the best I have found and it smells fabulous too.

4. This recipe! (watch the video) You have to like spinach. If you do, TRY IT!!! It is delish! I just made it for the fam tonight and Shaun licked his plate clean with is rare when Im the cook. I usually only rave about recipes if they are yummy and healthy. This is so good for you, easy to make and ready in about a half hour, max. It is pretty much a perfectly balanced meal. I made it with the above QUINOA... wonderful.
Just try it... I promised my frosted flake french toast was yummy and many have agreed,
who makes regular french toast anymore...

Gabby's 4th Birthday Party

Chef Gabby

She requested a hot pink and gold Hello Kitty Cake.
Thank you so much Heidi, Jenn and Jentry!!!
Gabby's party was a blast. The kids had a great time and I'm so glad we had a good turn out. I went for the zero stress, zero responsibility and had it at Little Chefz! AWESOME!!! It turned out so cute and was totally worth the experience. In the end I'm positive it ended up saving me money.

Seriously, Gabby had such a special time being the "head chef" and she felt so big!
I hope you enjoyed the party in pictures.
They are backwards but you get the idea. It for sure won't be our last party there. Gen did a great job with all the kids. She is awesome.

(I can't believe this whole month has come and almost gone already. I have a lot of blogging to catch up on. Lots of milestones and adventures to record from my girls to look back on).

Gabby @ {four}
Little lady you just light up my whole world. You are absolutely the sweetest little girl I have ever seen. You're still very shy around adults you don't know. You always say nice things (remind me to) and you thank me for EVERYTHING! You are so into shoes it scares me. You love a good lip gloss and still hate to get your hair done but you don't fuss anymore.
Just today in Costco they were giving out the new yogurt Creamies for free and Gabby said, mom, "what do you say"? I was still talking to the lady and she kept saying, "mommy, what do you say?" OH!! Hello. "Thank you". Then she said, "Thats right mom, good job".
What a little cutie you are.
Also a few weeks back we were delivering your birthday invitations and you said, "Mom, I actually don't want a brother anymore. Could you pull over and say a prayer to ask Heavenly Father for a girl now? Me and Stell will be quiet and fold our arms." I about died laughing! You are so funny and I have no clue how you think up what you say.
What I love the most about you is how many times a day you hug me, kiss me and tell me how pretty I am. I am so happy and proud to be your mommy.

One last story I want you to know... Recently when you were at Church you brought home a page you colored in Sunbeams about Adam and Eve. We talked about them when I put you to bed that night too. When were were about finished you asked if Eve got put on the naughty bench for eating that fruit?
Something like that happened to her right? lol.
I Love You GABBY!

Twas' the night before the princess turned 4!

...Still 3...

Here is some of her birthday stuff. I had to write this part down because it is so her and I want to remember these things. I picked up a ton of the Stella McCartney stuff from the Gap while in Vegas with my sisters. It was so expensive originally and they were practically giving it away in the store. I had already given her most of her clothes before her birthday but I left this leopard shirt and gingham jacket in the bag with her bday dress and baday outfit. She took one look at the shirt and jacket and said, "who is this for! It's NOT mine!"

I always make sure the moment my kids wake up on their birthday things are all decorated and set out for them so that every second of their day is all about them. I loved making this "banner" for Gabby simply because she loves banners and merit badges (thanks to Max and Ruby)...

More to come on her special day!
For now, I love you Gabrielle.
